A 501(c)(3) nonprofit

Protecting children in entertainment, sports, digital media, and church — in every state, not just California.

Cover Your Child Inc. exists so that no child's dream comes at the cost of their safety. We educate families, protect children through the Cover Your Child App, and campaign to make California's Child Performer Protection Law the law of the land.

Every app subscription funds the mission — and includes a free copy of the eBook Cover Your Child in the Entertainment Industry.

Our promise to families and the industry

EducateGive parents the laws, protocols, and red flags most families never hear about.
ProtectHold every adult working directly with a child under 18 to one standard of accountability.
LegislateCarry California's Child Performer Protection Law to all 50 states and federal law.

The law protects children only where it's enforced. We close that gap.

California's Child Performer Protection Law was a landmark. But a child on a set in Georgia, a field in Texas, on a creator's channel, working with a songwriter, or attending a church retreat or camp anywhere in America deserves the same protection. Our work rests on four pillars.

Youth protection & industry compliance

One standard of safety for every adult working directly with a child, across all four fields we cover: entertainment, sports, digital media platforms, and church.

  • Standardize child performer protections across every medium that employs or works directly with minors
  • The four youth fields we cover:
  • Entertainment — film, television, commercial, print, theatre (managers, agents, acting coaches, dance coaches, videographers, photographers, PR, counselors, mentors) and music (singers, musicians, songwriters, producers)
  • Sports — private coaches, trainers, scouts, camps, mentors, counselors, videographers, photographers, PR, and athletic invitationals
  • Digital media platforms — streamers, YouTubers, influencers, creators, and podcasters (managers, mentors, private trainers, coaches, PR, videographers, photographers)
  • Church — pastors, youth pastors, choir directors, counselors, mentors, camps, revivals, and events
  • Hold productions, organizations, and creators accountable to families

Parent education & empowerment

The legal literacy, set know-how, and emotional guidance families need before their child walks onto a set or a field.

  • The book Cover Your Child in the Entertainment Industry as the foundational guide
  • Plain-language guides to the Coogan Trust Act, the Krekorian Talent Scam Prevention Act, and regional child labor law
  • Set protocol, physical dangers, talent-scam detection, red-flag behavior, and healthy scheduling

Protection through the Cover Your Child App

Our subscription-based app is how protection reaches families and organizations directly — and how the nonprofit sustains its mission.

  • A paid monthly or yearly subscription for parents, professionals, and organizations
  • Revenue reinvested into education, advocacy, and legislative campaigns
  • Every subscriber receives the eBook free

Legislative & political initiatives

A national campaign to lobby, support, and push for California's protections to become the standard in every state, and to advocate for child labor law to be brought into the digital age.

  • Lobby and advocate for the Child Performer Protection Law to be passed in all 50 states
  • Push and support the adoption of federal standards mirroring California's model
  • Advocate for the law to be updated to cover podcasters, influencers, content creators, streaming productions, and church youth programs

The Cover Your Child App. Protection you subscribe to — and a mission you fund.

The app is the heart of how Cover Your Child protects children and the engine that keeps the nonprofit running. Parents, professionals, studios, organizations, and creators subscribe monthly or yearly; every dollar goes back into educating families and lobbying to get the law nationwide.

For parents

You are the reason Cover Your Child exists.

Every set, every practice field, every content shoot, every label, mega church or small community church puts your child in the hands of adults you've never met — the director, the manager, the photographer, the publicist, the coach. Your subscription to the Cover Your Child App is how you find out — before your child walks in — that the adults working directly with your child have been checked and are being held accountable.

Know before you goConfirm that the professionals working with your child are Cover Your Child certified — before the first day, not after something goes wrong.

Parents are paying attention. Studios, productions, teams, theaters, creators, music labels and churches that subscribe to the Cover Your Child App show families — and the public — that they were proactive about protecting children before anyone asked them to be.

Earn families' trust

Built by a mother who's been on set.

Jackie Braden raised two working child actors inside a four-generation Hollywood stunt family. Her sons, Makhari and Kaleo Elam, grew up on professional sets — both were cast in Grown Ups 2, and Kaleo returns to the franchise in Grown Ups 3.

After supporting California's AB 1660, the Child Performer Protection Law, Jackie wrote Cover Your Child in the Entertainment Industry so that every parent could have the knowledge she had — and every child could have the protection her sons had.

She founded Cover Your Child Inc. in 2026 to take that protection nationwide.
